The Dalmatian is a medium large (19 - 24 inches at the shoulders), smooth coated breed of working and sporting heritage, suitable as a family pet or performance animal. His spots, his most unique feature, are either black or chocolate brown, which is properly termed "liverThe Dalmatian is clean by nature and has little, if any, "doggy odor". His short coat does shed almost year round, but regular brushing helps to minimize shedding.
